LITHOGRAPH ON PAPER RESTORATION

ART ON PAPER RESTORATION

DURING RESTORATION       AFTER RESTORATION WAS COMPLETE

(Left Photo)Lithograph during cleaning, (Right photo) shows Lithograph after cleaning and oxidizing treatment in the same section.  This lithograph had foxing (brown spots) and darker areas where mat was sitting leaving a brown color tint from deterioration, as well has masking tape around the image used in framing.  The cleaning took a few weeks to complete and the brown areas were 85% removed. You can also see the landscape capturing lighter blue tints in the sky after treatment. Most Art on Paper Restorations can be a challenging at times, and only time, proper de-dehumidification and cleaning process can tell how clean a paper will be without disturbing darker or lighter colors in the painting. Most cleanings on paper can only be cleaned as well as 85%. This Lithography was then Museum Custom Framed with Archival Matting, backing and Museum glass was added to give a floating effect. Most art on paper need to be frame correctly and to preserve it conservation must be added with quality materials. Presentation1

My Mom was cleaning out her cabinets/drawers and came across a picture of her high school class from the 40’s. It had faded and cracked from being rolled up for over 50 years. I took it to Brush Strokes and asked if they could restore it and then frame it. I wasn’t holding much hope but wanted to see if it could be done as a gift to my Mom – it would mean a lot to her. Less than a week later, I was called and told it was ready. What a SURPRISE! Not only was it restored beautifully, the frame was perfect. It was well worth the cost – it was much more than I had thought possible. The picture looked like it had just been taken – it was so sharp and clear and no longer faded. When I gave it to my Mom, she was shocked and speechless (not an easy feat!). The picture now hangs in a place of honor and she loves it! She stops to look at it frequently and a smile spreads as she remembers the joy of the high school friends. I am definitely a life time customer of Brush Strokes. It’s the second time I have used her and the results are stunning!

THIS SECTION WILL TAKE YOU TO VIEW HOW AGED LITHOGRAPHS, PRINTS, WATERCOLORS CAN BE RESTORED, BY SIMPLY APPLYING THE RIGHT ACIDIC TREATMENT AND ALLOWING THE BLOTTING TECHNIQUE DO THE REST.

REMOVAL OF SHINY WAX LAMINATE FLOORS

Unusual restorations for your home

Fixing the look in your kitchen? Can’t remove shiny wax off your floors? Start with one cup vinegar and one quart warm water, do not over wet the surface. Damp a white cloth and only rub off one way as the laminate encounters your design. If this does not work try a little of rubbing alcohol in a small corner with a white cloth. Do not over soak the area. If this does not remove the wax off your floors, try Acetone, again, do not over soak, and keep a white cotton cloth preferable an old towel. Laminate are not supposed to be waxed or polished. Find the right cleaner without residue like Bruce at Home Depot stores or at your laminate flooring retail store.
